About Sun Spots
Skinllentigines, also known as age spots, sun spots or liver spots, are harmless, flat, brownish splotchy areas of hyperpigmented skin which seem to occur spontaneously on the back of the hands, neck and face of men and women over 40 years of age. These benign discolorations, more than anything else, tend to give away a person's age. Sun spots are caused by the skin being exposed to the sun over many years, and are an obvious sign of sun damage. If you do not believe that these brown, ugly marks on the back of your hands and face are caused by sunlight, look at the skin of your inner thigh; you will see that it is completely devoid of age spots. Sun spots are harmless and do not need to be treated from a health standpoint unless they are changing in shape and color, or are getting bigger than the surrounding sun spots.
